Obesity

obesityObesity means having too much body fat. It is not the same as being overweight, which means weighing too much. A person may be overweight from extra muscle, bone, or water, as well as from having too much fat.

Both terms mean that a person's weight is higher than what is thought to be healthy for his or her height.

We help you deal with various obesity issues including, DUODENAL SWITCH BPD (DS), GASTRIC BYPASS, LAP BAND, GASTRIC BALLOON (BARIATRIC INTRAGASTRIC BALLOON) and GASTRIC SLEEVE.

    DUODENAL SWITCH BPD (DS)

With a combination of gastric reduction and malabsorbtion, duodenal switch has reported the highest percentage of long term weight loss against alternative bariatric surgeries.  It is essentially the combination of a gastric bypass and a gastric sleeve.

    GASTRIC BYPASS

A Gastric Bypass is the removal of a portion of the stomach and bypassing of the majority of the small intestine; it is intended to aid in weight loss for obese patients.

    LAP BAND

An adjustable gastric band, commonly referred to as a lap band, is an inflatable silicone device that can be expanded with fluid through a central port.  The band is placed around the top portion of the stomach, via laparoscopic surgery and is an example of bariatric surgery designed for obese patients with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or greater.

    GASTRIC BALLOON (BARIATRIC INTRAGASTRIC BALLOON)

A intragastric balloon is a silicone ball that is placed in the stomach filled with either saline or air to help the patient feel full easier for significant weight loss.  it is a temporary solution and requires removal or replacement after 6 months.

    GASTRIC SLEEVE

Sleeve gastrectomy is a surgical weight-loss procedure in which the stomach is reduced to about 25% of its original size, by surgical removal of a large portion of the stomach, following the major curve. The open edges are then attached together (often with surgical staples) to form a sleeve or tube with a banana shape. The procedure permanently reduces the size of the stomach.
